Erodible Antifoul
Erodible anti-foul is also known as a self polishing anti-foul. This is the most suitable kind of anti-foul for sailing and power boats up to 8-10 knots.
This kind of anti-foul is a resin based system which is packed with active ingredients to repel/discourage fouling growth. When the boat is launched and the anti-foul is completely immersed, the resin breaks down in a controlled manner. This means that a fresh layer of biocide is continually being exposed to the water. The advantages of this are, that the anti-foul provides a good level of protection throughout the season, especially if two coats are applied, but equally, when it comes to re-coating the surface, there isn't an excessive build up of antifoul to remove before re-applying for the new season.
